Charlie and Elle, along with their two young sons, had been searching for the perfect home in a sought-after area of the Sutherland Shire. They loved the homely atmosphere of the suburb, with its tree-lined streets and proximity to the beach. It was a place where many of their friends had already settled. Unfortunately, most of the homes in the area were quite old and in poor condition, not ideal for raising their young boys comfortably.
While house-hunting, they came across a very old property on a large block that stood out. It wasn’t the home itself that caught their eye, but the potential for a knockdown and rebuild in the perfect location. The next big step was finding a builder they could trust to bring their vision to life.
Charlie, having worked with various trades in his own role, knew the challenges of dealing with builders and was nervous about making the wrong choice. But after seeing the smooth and steady progress of a Highwater Homes project in their friends’ neighbourhood, they decided to reach out to Toby to explore their options.
Charlie and Elle’s vision was clear from the start: they wanted a spacious, two-storey Hamptons-style home that would be perfect for their growing family. They dreamed of a home that had plenty of room for their boys to play and enough space for them to relax and unwind as a family. The location was perfect, and now they needed a builder who could turn their dream into reality, without the stress that often comes with such a large project.
While the block of land was ideal, the property itself presented some challenges. The house was extremely old and there were no stormwater pipes on the block, which meant an easement would need to be created through a neighbouring property. This involved gaining permission from the rear neighbour and dealing with legal paperwork to have the easement noted on the property titles.
On top of that, Charlie and Elle were wary about the building process, having seen friends and family experience delays, unexpected costs, and frustrating complications during their own builds. The couple knew that they needed a builder who could manage these issues without adding to their stress.
From their first meeting with Toby and the Highwater Homes team, Charlie and Elle felt confident that they were in good hands. They sat down with Toby and the draftsperson to sketch out their vision and bring their ideas to life. The team worked closely with them, adjusting and refining the design until it was exactly what they wanted.
Highwater Homes took care of the entire process, from design to council approvals, giving Charlie and Elle peace of mind and allowing them to focus on their jobs and spending time with their young boys. The easement issue with the neighbours was handled smoothly, with Toby liaising with the neighbours and overseeing the legal work required for approval. Once council approval was received, construction began promptly.
Throughout the build, Charlie and Elle were kept informed every step of the way. Their friends, building just around the corner, were experiencing delays and skyrocketing costs, but Highwater Homes ensured there were no such surprises. Steady progress was made, and any concerns were quickly addressed by Toby and his team.
